Miller Jones Mortuary

Miller Jones Mortuary & Crematory is one of the largest mortuaries on the west coast, and we were commissioned to upgrade their previously outdated online presence. Similarly to the UEG application, the site is built using Ruby on Rails, jQuery for AJAX, a mid-level complex database to store the data using MySQL, and Amazon S3 to store uploaded videos. The site also use SSL to securely encrypt the flower store transactions.

The site is large - 20 pages, 30 products, and 400 obituaries (as of Jan 01, 2009) - and includes a powerful content management system. Administrators are able to manage pages, obituaries, service times & locations, videos, photos, news items, and the home page's rotating banners.

In addition, all the videos are stored using Amazon S3 at just $2.00/mo. This drastically cuts server costs and load versus a traditional server. Furthermore, flower store transactions are made securely with SSL, and the florist auto-receives email notices so that orders can be filled promptly.
